United Methodist Women... a faith based lay women's organization established for missions in the local and global churches.
Community of women who nurture and encourage one another in their spiritual growth.
Any woman indicating her desire to belong and to participate in the mission programs is welcome. United Methodist Women studies are centered around our PURPOSE: Spiritual Growth, Social Action, Education and Interpretation, and Membership, Nurture, and Outreach.
The United Methodist Women is flourishing at First United Methodist Church of Van Alstyne.
We welcome women of all ages to our meetings.
We worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with Christian friendship and laughter.
Some of our local missions are: Prayer Shawls for the ill, scholarships for our graduating seniors, food for local functions, Lord's Acre, Wesley Retirement Home, Whispers of Hope, and Project Transformation.
Finances for the UMW are generated from the membership's pledges. There is no required amount and all gifts are voluntary.
The UMW of the First United Methodist Church consist of three circles.
Our original Circle was established in 1964 and meets at the church on the third Monday of each month, August to May, at 6:30 p.m.
The Early Birds Circle was organized in 2012 and meets September to May at the church on the third Friday at 9:30 a.m.
We worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with Christian friendship and laughter. We believe "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles." Isaiah 40:31.
We would love to have you join us in one of our circles. If you would like more information on our organization and what we do, or simply want to let us know you would like to be part of United Methodist Women, contact us at
